Every once in a while, there is a product that not only meets your expectations, but exceeds it. Recently, my 3 year old received this "Reusable Sticker Pad" made by Melissa & Doug. We have had poor luck with sticker books in the past, that even when they claim to be repositionable stickers, or reusable stickers, it is not always so, at least not by little hands. But since I have, overall, had good experiences with Melissa & Doug products with all of my kids, I thought they might have a higher quality product.

 I was right. Their claim that the stickers can be repositioned holds true. They are less like stickers, and more like static clings. Which is wonderful in that;
  • They don't stick to hands, or fold over and stick to themselves, or to any other surfaces.
  • They don't collect dust/dirt and loose their "stick". They can be used, reused and used again and ...
  • The stickers wont rip. Stickers that have contour can often tear on their inside corners, these however are plastic-like and flexible, and have not tore on us even once.

There was only one short fall, and it was easy to solve. My daughter is 3, and is at an age where she wants to do everything herself. She has little hands and at one point had a tough time removing one of the stickers from a sticker page, resulting in a rip of the sticker page backer. The sticker came out in one nice piece, but the backer was torn thin.

This was of course a minor issue, and even still was easy to solve. On the other pages, I removed the outside border on the sticker pages, allowing for easier handling of the remaining stickers.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product and the longevity of the stickers.

I've long heard the benefits of coconut water, and just as long have avoided trying it. Since I was a kid, I've always hated coconut. So, it's no wonder why coconut water has been on my list of aversions.  However, I'm a real diehard coffee drinker, coffee at breakfast, lunch and after dinner. So if anything in the world was going to persuade me to try coconut water, it would be espresso, and viola:
This is a shelf stable product, and I had bought it at room temp meaning that after acquiring it I couldn't just take the plunge straight away, I had to chill it first. This allowed some time for second guessing, which in a couple hours would either be proved right or I would have been justified in my purchase. I was hoping for the later.

To my surprise, there was very little actual coconut flavor, a slight after taste of it, but well worth the benefits that coconut water brings to the table.  I'm a big coffee drinker, prior to this product my idea of hydration was that last watered down sip of iced coffee.  I have to say I'm very happy to have tried it and I've been happily buying it since.

The nutrition break down: 140 calories, 6 grams of protein, 24% DV calcium, 600mg Potassium, with a total of 3g total fat. Not a bad break down!

I feel good about drinking this product, not just because I know it is hydrating, but because it is organic, 100% natural, fair trade, and is packed in recyclable tetra pak.

Tetra Paks, however are only recyclable where facilities exist. Check and see if you have a facility near you with recycle cartons.

Have you tried coco cafe, do you recycle your cartons?

Have a great day!
Melissa

There is something to be said for an established blog, and seasoned blogger, that is for sure. Years ago, prior to kids, when I had more time and less to blog about, I had such a thing.  But, something happened when I started a family; I had no time, and yet plenty to talk about. Now, a seasoned mother, still a seasoned blogger, and with a bit more time, I'm ready to start again. Fresh.

I spent a great deal of time today setting up my basic social networks. Although they are now mostly vacant, they necessary for what I am to accomplish here. So, I'm now on Twitter, and Facebook.  And as you can note, I'm being hosted by weebly. I'm connected with a few other sites & all set up with rafflecopter (psst... an ad giveaway will be happening this week). Things are still under construction, and as more connections are made, and more content is produced it will all begin to fall into place.

Blue Emu is [mainly] a review blog. I've been a giveaway entrant for a long time. It is so fun to enter giveaways and on the seldom occasions that I am found to be a winner it is even more exciting. Giveaways are a great way to find out about new products, indie companies, and hear all about them for someone you can relate to. I'm looking forward to connecting with all of you and bringing to you a selection of products and services that you can enjoy! I'll also be sharing, on occasion, recipes, how-to's, patterns, and the like.

If you too are a giveaway & review blog, and have some advice for me, or a site that makes family friendly product to blogger connections, I'm open to all suggestions. Just leave a comment below, or e(mu)-mail me. Thanks ever so much.

Pop back in later this week, I'll be raffling away 3 free ad spaces!
Thanks for helping me get this ball rolling,
Melissa
